How To Unlock Roommates

After you have created 16 dream vacation homes for different characters, one of your previous clients will walk into the Paradise Planning office with Niko. They will inform you that they want to share their vacation home with a roommate.

What Are Roommate Vacation Homes?

Roommate vacation homes are simply vacation homes that have two characters living in them instead of one. We recommend that you use the room expansion skill to make the home as large as possible so you can make it comfortable for both clients.

How To Assign Roommates

There are a few different ways that you can get a roommate for your clients. The easiest way is to wander around the beach or your existing facilities to speak to other characters and ask them if they are interested in sharing a home. To do this, you will need to walk up to them and chat with them. You will then need to choose the "let me introduce you" option to get the two potential roommates to meet. If the two clients get along, they will accept your offer and become roommates.

You can use amiibo to call any characters to the island that you have the card for and they can become a roommate for another character. Also, you can call on clients that you have already completed houses for and ask them if they want to be roommates instead. You will need to speak to Niko to do this. If you do this and they accept the offer to move, you will lose the home for the client that you call.

Can You Give Roommates To Existing Clients?

Yes, you can give roommates to existing clients. To do this, you will need to have completed your first roommate home after your 16th client. Once you complete this, Lottie will inform you that they are implementing a roommate matchmaking service.

To give roommates to existing clients, you will need to visit them at their vacation homes and speak to them. When you are talking to them you should choose the following conversational options:

  • How's your home?
  • Let's talk roommates

This will then open up the option to match this character with a roommate.

Can You Separate Roommates?

If you want to split up roommates then you can do this by visiting their vacation home. When you are at the vacation home you need to talk to the character you want to remove (you will be able to build them their own vacation home after). To do this, you need to choose the following options when speaking to the character:

  • How's your home?
  • Let's talk roommates
  • Want to build your own?
  • Consider it done!

You will then be able to move that character away from their roommate and build them their own vacation home.
