Apex Legends Season 5: Fortune's Favor is introducing an ongoing story to be played out in Battle Royale games.
While, in the past, players have watched teasers and trailers to understand the backstories and motivations of their characters, now they will be able to see their actions unfold in real-time.
Through collecting Treasure Packs, going on Weekly Hunts, and completing the Season Quest, it is likely we'll see the culmination of Loba's quest for revenge in Season 5.
Apex Legends has once again changed the game for Battle Royales, but if everything's a little confusing right now, we're breaking it down.
How To Play Apex Legends Season 5
Apex Legends is free to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and via the Origin Store on PC.

What Is The "Broken Ghost" Season Quest?
There's a lot of new information to take in, so we're going to start with the big one. Apex Legends designer Rayme Vinson took a closer look at what's coming in Season 5 on their blog, so we'll refer back to that when we can for the most accurate explanations.
The Broken Ghost Season Quest is a series of nine Hunts unlocked each week.
Going on these Hunts - seemingly raiding parties into King's Canyon At Night - will reward you with a new Weapon Charm, a piece of the Mysterious Artifact that Loba is trying to assemble, and the next chapter in the story. But, beware of the dangerous Prowlers.
We're assuming the next chapter will be a cutscene of some description, but it's exciting to play the story out for ourselves for the first time in Apex Legends!
Hunts can be replayed as often as you like during the Season, and their completion won't be time-limited.
You can watch the Prologue when Season 5 drops on May 12, and the first Hunt will be unlocked on May 19.
You can complete Hunts as a Solo player, or squad up to take them on. Solo players will get a few respawns, whereas teams can revive each other in battle. Any players who complete the Hunt will receive the rewards - as long as they have unlocked it.

How To Unlock The Hunts
The Hunts are unlocked by collecting Treasure Packs in competitive Apex Legends matches. We told you it was complicated.
Treasure Packs can be found in Duos, Trios, Limited-Time Modes and Ranked matches as a lootable reward. They don't take up backpack space, and you'll receive your rewards after the match.
According to Vinson, the rewards include, "Crafting Metals, BattlePass XP, Apex Packs, or the ability to play a new weekly Hunt for the next piece of the artifact."
You can only collect one Treasure Pack a day, and there are 45 to grab over the course of the Season. So, it seems that every fifth pack will unlock a Hunt.
If you miss too many Packs, you can buy up to yesterday's amount with Apex Coins, the game's premium currency.

A New Story
The Broken Ghost tells a brand-new story in Apex Legends Season 5, and writer Tom Casiello explains more:
"Caught between the Apex Games and Hammond Robotics, Loba is spinning a web of lies and deceit in her personal quest for vengeance… but how far is she willing to go?
"How does the Broken Ghost fit into her plans for Revenant? And what happens when one Legend stumbles upon the truth?
"See a side of the Legends’ lives you’ve never seen before... outside of the Games! Alliances will be formed, friendships will be tested, vendettas will be born, and when the dust settles, nothing will be the same again in a mystery that has far-reaching consequences for them all."
Who, or what is the Broken Ghost? Is that even the name of the artefact that Loba covets, or is it something else entirely?
I guess we'll find out as the Season Quest progresses...
