Square Enix has insisted future plans for Babylon’s Fall aren’t in danger. That's despite both critics and fans lambasting the recently released live-service game, becoming the worst-reviewed PS5 game on Metacritic. It also had a poor launch, with the game peaking at less than a thousand players on its first Steam day.
Speaking through Twitter, Square Enix released a new statement, advising:
Is the continuing service in danger? No, there are no plans to reduce the scale of development on Babylon's Fall.
Square Enix Claims Babylon’s Fall Still Has a Future
Elaborating further, Babylon’s Fall will continue getting support, saying Season 2's development is "practically complete." Developer Platinum Games has already begun work on Season 3, while Square Enix promised to listen to player feedback when improving the experience.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Square Enix has seen issues with its live-service games. Marvel’s Avengers and Outriders also saw significant criticism, though both titles have since found a steady fanbase and continue receiving new content on a semi-regular basis. Babylon’s Fall is available now on the PlayStation 5 and PC.
