Battlefield 2042 is out right now, and our review highlights the current state of the game. It's a strange one, and hopefully, we'll see a lot of changes in the future to sort things out.
Is there a Battlefield 2042 free-to-play option though? We hope we get one at some point, as once the game is fixed being free would help massively with boosting the player base.
Not On Release
As of now, EA has no official statements about free-to-play features in Battlefield 2042. You can purchase the game now, and play all the modes such as Hazard Zone, Battlefield Portal and All-Out Warfare, but currently, there isn't a way to play for free.

If you've already paid, there's a BR in store
While there isn't a free-to-play game mode, you might be able to play a Battle Royale game. A hugely impressive Battlefield Portal game mode offers free-for-all action on the maps of Battlefield 2042. Sure it isn't free-to-play, but it's what we all wanted from a free mode on Battlefield.
It's a shame we aren't able to play for free, but we'll keep you updated if the game makes it to Game Pass at any point!
