Leaks and speculation surrounding the new era of Warzone continue to circulate, much to the excitement of fans wondering what Infinity Ward has in store.
Known as Warzone 2, rumours were pointing towards the reworked battle royale launching in 2023 but following the worldwide reveal of Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward is revealing further information.
Contrary to rumours pointing towards a launch next year, the developer has confirmed Warzone 2.0 will launch in 2022 making it the second Call of Duty title to launch this year.
Warzone 2 Launching in 2022
During a recent session with content creators and media, Infinity Ward did reveal that Warzone 2 won't launch alongside Modern Warfare 2. Instead, the reworked battle royale shared that "fans everywhere can look forward to a new Warzone 2.0 experience releasing this year."
In a CharlieINTEL report, the developer describes Warzone 2 as an "evolution in battle royale" along with hinting at a brand-new map. Information on the new Warzone 2 map emerged through notable leaker Tom Henderson sharing a rough sketch of the map layout and its points of interest.
The report also details brand-new AI that will feature within Warzone 2 in some capacity. Infinity Ward says the AI will ensure "the best Warzone experience" which is certainly exciting.
The idea of AI appearing in Warzone 2 is nothing new. Leaks revealing intel on new Strongholds suggest players need to eliminate them in order to complete objectives during matches.
Warzone 2 Release Date
While we know Warzone 2 will launch this year, an exact release date is still unknown. With Modern Warfare 2 releasing on October 28, a Warzone 2 launch at the beginning of December isn't out of the question.
