With Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update coming to consoles and mobile this November, developer Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone has confirmed that he can now resume the development of his second game, Haunted Chocolatier. Announced in 2021, Hotel Chocolatier’s development has been put on hold as Barone ports the massive Update 1.6 of Stardew Valley to consoles and mobiles. While this has delayed the second game, Stardew Valley’s 1.6 brings in tons of new content and fixes for the farm sim game. Delaying Haunted Chocolatier worked for both Barone and Stardew Valley fans, which can possibly result in a better launch of Haunted Chocolatier.

In an interview with Aftermath, Barone mentioned that he had the option to let Stardew Valley lie dormant as he created version 1.0 of Haunted Chocolatier but he chose to go full on Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update - even choosing a new team to assist with everything related to the 1.6 update. Barone wasn’t in a rush in producing Haunted Chocolatier, and in turn, was able to finally port Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update to consoles and mobile this November.

Rushing through update 1.6 to finally get onto Haunted Chocolatier may have resulted in an earlier release of the game. However, this could also result in a lesser quality update for Stardew Valley fans, ultimately disappointing both the long-time veterans and fans of ConcernedApe and those looking to jump in with Haunted Chocolatier.

Update 1.6 may be the last Stardew Valley update, and Barone took his time to deliver a great update before he can finally move on to Haunted Chocolatier.

Haunted Chocolatier will have new mechanics and gameplay, such as a brand-new combat system. The game will be more combat-oriented compared to Stardew Valley’s laid-back version of fighting enemies. Now that Barone is finally able to port Stardew Valley’s 1.6 to the remaining platforms aside from PC, fans can expect to see more updates about Hotel Chocolatier.
