Grand Theft Auto V is a game that will never seemingly die, with Rockstar Games revealing it's bringing back North Yankton, the location where the game's prologue takes place, making it playable for the first time in GTA Online.

Returning is part of the Halloween festivities going down in GTA Online, with plenty of content for players to enjoy during this spooky season, including a community challenge where players will have to get rid of zombie waves in North Yankton.

In the main story of GTA V, the events of the prologue take place years before we meet the three main protagonists in Los Santos. North Yankton is a remote, snowy location where a bank robbery involving Michael and Trevor goes wrong.

Unlike many other locations in the franchise, players don't get to really explore, not that there's much to see, to begin with, with fans wondering if they would ever use North Yankton for future stories, and while it isn't exactly that, seeing it return feels like a wave of nostalgia has hit fans who initially played Rockstar's massive open-world when it originally released back in 2013.

There are no specifics about how to play the new community challenge or when exactly players will be able to return to North Yankton other than a vague reminder via an official blog post that mentions the map will become available for a limited time starting "next week."

It'll be interesting to see how many more big updates Rockstar Games has planned for GTA Online in its current format, considering Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to arrive late in 2025.

We'll doubt the company will want to get rid of the entire multiplayer portion so fans are hopeful a smooth transition can take place so they won't have to start from scratch after over a decade (in some cases) of grinding GTA Online.
