Microsoft has begun testing browser-based game streaming on multiple platforms, according to The Verge.
Allegedly being tested by Microsoft employees, games appear to be playable through Chrome and Edge browsers and can run in full-screen mode.
They can also be connected to an Xbox controller.

Microsoft Reportedly Testing Browser-Based Xbox Game Streaming
According to the report, this system is viable on mobile platforms, too – particularly iPhone and iPad.
Last year, Apple blocked Microsoft's rollout of game streaming because it was unable to certify every title on the service.
At the time, Apple said: "Our customers enjoy great apps and games from millions of developers, and gaming services can absolutely launch on the App Store as long as they follow the same set of guidelines applicable to all developers, including submitting games individually for review, and appearing in charts and search".
Microsoft fired back, saying "Apple stands alone as the only general-purpose platform to deny consumers from cloud gaming and game subscription services like Xbox Game Pass. And it consistently treats gaming apps differently, applying more lenient rules to non-gaming apps even when they include interactive content."
Still, in October an internal memo at Microsoft from Phil Spencer said that "We absolutely will end up on iOS with Game Pass", suggesting a browser-based solution which appears to now be close to fruition.
According to the Verge's latest reporting, a public preview period could be on the cards.
Could this be linked to Microsoft's earlier promise of "exciting" platform updates coming this year?
