Another patent for the PlayStation 5 has surfaced, looking as though Sony's next-gen controller, the DualShock 5, uses a technology called biofeedback to monitor the player's heart rate and sweat secretion levels, which will adjust gameplay accordingly. Here's everything you need to know.
Originally discovered by Respawn First, the patent talks about the controller's use of "biofeedback information to select between one or more options presented in a piece of content without the user having to provide further input", mentioning electrodermic activity as a way for monitoring player response.

The DualShock 5 will use its handles as receptors for monitoring this "biofeedback".
The patent description says -
"There is a desire in computer gaming to provide an immersive and highly interactive experience for players, so as to enhance the enjoyment of the player, this has become of particular interest with the increasing availability of head-mounted displays,"
This could mean the PS5 VR could somehow be integrated into this new feature.
Although things on Sony's side are looking really exciting right now, a patent leak is by no means a guarantee that your sweaty hands will make your gameplay experience any better, we won't know for certain until we get our... hands on it.
The PS5 is definitely going to change the console experience for the better. Hopefully, the Xbox Series X also has something sweat related up its sleeves too.
