After what feels like the longest game of chicken in history, Microsoft has finally stolen a march on Sony and confirmed the pricing and release date for the Xbox Series X.
The console is scheduled to launch globally on November 10, alongside the smaller Xbox Series S. Pre-orders begin on September 22.
The Xbox Series X will retail for £449/$499, while the Series S, as reported earlier this week, will cost £249/$299.
Xbox Series X Release Date And Pricing Revealed
In a new blog post, Microsoft explained:
"On November 10, a new generation of console gaming begins. That’s when our vision becomes reality with the most performant, immersive and compatible next-generation console gaming experiences, and the freedom to play your games with your friends, anytime, anywhere."
"Gaming has evolved in the last decade to make it easier, simpler and more affordable for any player to make that first connection with a new world, a new story, or a new friend."
"With a family of next-gen Xbox consoles, even greater variety and value with Xbox Game Pass, and an expansion to Xbox All Access, we invite everyone to join us for this next generation of gaming."

Both consoles will be available as part of Xbox's All Access offer, which bundles together the console, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold in one monthly fee, with no upfront cost. Microsoft is also bundling in EA Play (formerly EA Access) as a free extra.
The offer runs for 24 months and is being expanded to more countries later this year.
