Xbox Series X Has A Secret Button - And Now We Know What It Does

It looks like the Xbox Series X and S will have a button which allows older controllers and accessories to work with the next-gen console.

The button can be found on the front of the new consoles next to the USB port.

As well as allowing older accessories to work, the button has another function.

According to the Director of Programming, Larry Hryb, is also an IR (infrared) receiver.

Xbox One Media Remotes will continue to work with Xbox Series X|S as part of our commitment that you can bring your existing accessories forward with you. The design team hid the IR receiver inside the bind button #PowerYourDreamspic.twitter.com/vNQ2FJsgRh

The IR receiver is a great feature for those who either don't have the funds or don't want to splash the cash for new media remotes.

As well as that, many accessories are compatible too.

The button is actually partly transparent, this is to make it as hidden as possible.

IR receivers transfer information from infrared technology to another device.

Take for example a universal TV remote, it can work on multiple different TVs despite brand and model.

The same goes for the Xbox.

Although you may be using an Xbox One media controller, it will work on the Xbox Series X and S too.

If your old remote is a little warn down no worries!

New media accessories are releasing with the next-gen consoles.
