Elite Series CS:GO Recap - Week 3

Some increible clutches and some intense back and forth action took place in week three of the Elite Series. Let's take a look back at all the action.

exceL v Epsilon

Kicking off the action at the Gfinity Arena, we had Epsilon taking on exceL. Epsilon were able to grab the opening pistol round on Mirage before exceL came back into the game, opening a solid 8-4 lead on the T side. However, Epsilon responded taking the next couple of rounds to close the first half at 8-7. Epsilon proved their pistol skill by taking the second pistol round of the game. The momentum was fully in favour of Epsilon, as they continued to move closer to the victory. Despite a resurgence from exceL, Epsilon took Mirage 16-10 to earn a 1-0 series lead.

Moving to Overpass, exceL took the first pistol round to grab the early advantage in the match. The opening exchanges were back and forth between the two teams but it was Epsilon who were able to capitalise and build a substantial 11-4 lead thanks to some nice shots from Smooya. exceL managed to win the second pistol but it wasn't enough as Epsilon secured another 16-10 win and a 2-0 series victory.

 Infused v Reason

Opening on Inferno, Infused began with a flawless pistol round to secure an early lead. Both sides were able to exchange rounds but some solid offesnive play from Infused allowed them to build a slight 9-6 lead at the half. The momentum was in favour of Infused and it showed. A nice bait and switch from AaroN and Frei secured the CT pistol round for the Red Army, as they set about extending their lead. Infused reached map point but Reason weren't finished yet. In the latter rounds, Trials scored a huge 3K on the B bombsite to give Infused a 16-10 victory in the opening map.

Switching to Mirage, the momentum remained with Infused as they took the opening pistol round. Reason were able to respond immediately with a round of their own to level the game at 1-1. After some more back and forth exchanges, Infused extended their lead to 8-3 and were looking good. Reason managed to answer back with a couple of rounds, to end the half at 10-5 to Infused. Reason showed some great determination in the second half, closing the deficit to 12-10. Could they snatch victory? AaroN halted the momentum in the 28th round with a massive 1v2 clutch to put Infused one round away from their first Elite Series win. Infused went on to close out Mirage 16-14 to take the series 2-0.

Method v Endpoint

Cache would be the first map for these two teams. Endpoint started out well, taking an early 5-1 lead on the CT side. Endpoint kept the rounds coming in, thanks to some impressive play from Pickles and Immi on the AWP. Endpoint had a comfortable 12-3 lead and Method had it all to do in the second half. Method showed signs of life as they battle to take the second pistol round and the momentum slowly turned in the favour of Method. A phenomenal comeback from Method leveled the game at 14-14 with overtime looming. Immi tried to close the map out with an insane collateral on the A bombsite but the game still headed to overtime. Both teams exchanged rounds but it was Endpoint who managed to edge the win 19-17.

Mirage would be equally as close. Endpoint started out on the front foot again but Method were able to remain close throughout the game. Endpoint managed to establish a 13-8 lead but Method once again, began to claw  their way back into the game. Overtime wasn't needed this time around, as Endpoint won 16-13 to take a 2-1 victory in the series.

Prophecy v EnVyUs

In the match of the night, Prophecy grabbed an early lead on Cobble before EnVy managed to answer back with some aggression to gain a 5-3 lead. Despite Slap landing some crisp shots with the Deagle, the Boys In Blue began to assert their dominance and led 10-5 after the first half. EnVy opened the second half taking the CT pistol round and were looking good for the win. Proph managed to reduce the deficit to 2 rounds before Lambert scored a nasty AWP shot through the box on platform to halt the Prophecy comeback. EnVy followed up with a couple of rounds to take Cobble 16-10 to secure the 1-0 lead.

EnVy were looking very comfortable on Cache after securing the T pistol round. From there on out, it was total domination from the Boys In Blue. A flawless 16-0 victory closed out the series and cemented their place at the top of the CSGO standings.

Another fantastic week of CSGO action comes to a close. GGWP to all teams!
