GODSENT Team Profile - EGX Invitational 2016

Welcome to the Gfinity CS:GO Invitational, GODSENT!

The Gfinity CS:GO Invitational brought to you by Omen by HP is fast approaching, as four of the world’s best teams prepare for battle at the UK’s largest games event, EGX 2016, from 22nd to 25th September at the NEC, Birmingham.

As we edge closer to the launch of the CS:GO Invitational, we’re delighted to reveal GODSENT as the first team to descend upon the CS:GO Invitational.

History

Following the reformation of Team Ancient in April 2016, GODSENT was established by former Fnatic player, Markus "pronax" Wallsten and Toms Martin. Initially, the team consisting of Andreas 'znajder' Lindberg, Mathias 'pauf' Köhler, Simon' twist' Eliasson, Jonas 'Lekr0' Olofsson and Markus "pronax" Wallsten experienced relative success, finishing 3rd/4th at DreamHack Masters Malmö 2016 and 4th at the StarLadder i-League Invitational #1.

However, in August 2016, GODSENT opted to trade three players with Fnatic in what is widely considered one of the most historic roster shuffles in eSports, as they acquired Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, Jesper "JW" Wecksell and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist, in place of pauf, twist and Lekr0.

Team Spotlight and Recent Performances

While this ‘dream line-up’ needs no introduction, currently, GODSENT have participated in very few tournaments since reuniting and have struggled to find any consistency in their performances, notably placing 9th – 12th at their first event, the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2.

However, while their recent performances may be disappointing, as expected with a new roster, GODSENT are still perfecting their roles and strategies. As a result, there is no doubt in my mind that GODSENT will once regain their spot at the top of the podium.

The question is, will they be able find their form in time for the Gfinity CS:GO Invitational?

Final Comments

Despite being relatively untested under their new organisation, GODSENT is comprised of some of the most skilled and feared names in CS:GO history, with four of the five players holding the honour of winning the first Valve sponsored CS:GO event, DreamHack Winter 2013.

In addition to this, as one of the few player-owned organisation in eSports – in which all five players are active co-founders and shareholders, GODSENT possesses an additional layer of trust and teamwork. Will this provide them with a competitive edge over their opponents? Only time will tell... However, one thing we can be certain of is that GODSENT will do give everything in their power to live up to their teams pedigree and name.
