Twitch Acquires Curse
The world's most popular streaming platform, Twitch, has announced that it is set to acquire the popular gaming community and software developer, Curse.
Founded in 2006, Curse is best known for its popular wiki communities built around fan favourite games, such as League of Legends and Minecraft, along with its communication application, Curse Voice, which rivals services such as Skype and Discord.
In addition to this, Curse have also dabbled in the world of eSports, having previously owned professional teams within both Call of Duty and League of Legends.
In the official statement, posted on their blog, Twitch stated:
"We’ve long been fans of what they’ve been doing and we know a lot of you have been too... this acquisition will help provide gamers with the tools and resources they need to achieve the ultimate gaming experience, a mission shared by both Twitch and Curse. Together Curse and Twitch will help gamers connect, interact, and share information with one another."
While Hubert Thieblot, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Curse, added;
"We here at Curse have been avid gamers and Twitch users for quite a long time, so we're thrilled to be joining the Twitch family."
"I'm really excited to see how we can bring Curse services into the Twitch network, and provide an unparalleled experience to both Curse and Twitch users. This is going to be terrific for the millions of players who use Curse, and for the larger gaming community."
As of yet, details of the acquisition, such as the price or the expected date of the closure of this deal, have not been disclosed.
