Far Cry 6, the next mainline instalment of the FPS franchise, is arriving on February 18, 2021, and is looking to continue the series' tradition of complex, memorable villains by casting Giancarlo Esposito as dictator of Yara.
Esposito spoke to IGN to explain his character, Anton Castillo, his backstory and his motivations.

According to Esposito, his character's father was also a dictator.
“His father was a dictator before him and he wants to empower the people to take their country back. His goal is to use the resources that they have within the country to survive without allowing outsiders to come in and co-opt their scientists, their intellectual property, all of these things,” he explained.
Interestingly, Esposito notes that "He [Castillo] really means good", noting that "he's in a world that's moving progressively forward faster than he is."
Anthony Gonzalez, of Pixar's Coco, plays Castillo's son and is being groomed to take over the nation - but the elder Castillo is disappointed that he isn't making the progress he wants.
“He wants him to grow up faster, he wants to give him the skills and empower him to know that he has the power over life and death."
