Worms Reloaded was released in 2010 and brought the franchise back to 2D gameplay after the 3D titles, which weren’t received as positively as the 2D titles. Worms Reloaded added more animations to the worms, with some now making facial expressions when looking at incoming grenades or weapons.

Worms can be customized with hats and other customization options, making multiplayer gameplay much more fun. Several game modes are available, such as the 35-mission campaign, custom, and action-packed Body Count modes.

The first true sequel to the original 1995 Worms game, Worms 2, offered new gameplay that was not precedent in the spin-off or other titles that came before it. Players can now control an army of up to 8 worms, and the infamous Holy Hand Grenade weapon makes its comeback after its debut in Worms: Directors Cut.

Worms 2 is the first game to add local and online TCP/IP multiplayer, which allowed more players to participate. The franchise's multiplayer skyrocketed with the introduction of this feature.

What made Worms World Party exceptionable was its multiplayer scene. Everyone can create their own game type and rules, which led to massive player growth, with some even creating clans and leagues.

Worms World Party also added CPU enemy rankings, which are names that distinguish their levels, ranks, and difficulties from those of other CPU enemies.
