During the recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo presented a fantastic list of upcoming indie and partner games. From amazing platformers to cozy and relaxing simulators, the Nintendo Switch will have tons of new games ready to be played on the go.

Slated to release during the latter half of 2024 and 2025, here are the best indie and partner games from the Nintendo Direct.

Indie Games

Neva

Coming from the creators of Gris, a highly rated platform adventure game made by Nomada Studio, is Neva, a platform adventure game similar to Gris but tackles a different and unique story this time.

Neva focuses on Neva, a young wolf cub, and Alba, Neva’s mother figure. The video game heavily touches on motherhood, and Nomada Studio aims to portray a story as great as Gris’. Neva will be available to the Switch console on October 15, 2024.

Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker DLC

A turn-based RPG inspired by classic games such as Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, Sea Of Stars had a relatively positive reception from gamers and critics alike. Its DLC, the Throes of the Watchmaker, is a free update for those who already have the game on Switch.

The new DLC will bring the protagonists Valere and Zale into a miniature clockwork world to stop an evil carnival. A new playable character reminiscent of Chrono Trigger’s resident robot, Robo, is also included in the DLC. The free update will be available next spring 2025.

Morsel

Peglin

Peglin is a turn-based RPG with a twist featuring a goblin for a protagonist. Players must aim orbs and hit pegs in a Pachinko-style area to damage the enemies or heal up.

The damage dealt can be amped up depending on how many pegs were hit, and some orbs provide power-ups, such as splitting into many copies, while others pierce through several pegs at a time. Peglin is now available on the Nintendo Switch.

Metal Slug Tactics

Metal Slug Tactics transforms the iconic Metal Slug series into an isometric tactical RPG. Fans of the franchise will not have to wait that long since Metal Slug Tactics will be released this coming Fall.
