FUT Headliners Team 2 has gone live in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team and features 12 new players that could profit greatly from their real-life performances.
We're still waiting for the next big promo, which will be the Future Stars, but Headliners has been overhauled for the better and has far more hype around it this year.
The Headliner promo brings big boosts to cards, along with an item that updates throughout the season, in a similar way to Ones to Watch cards - you'll need to decide whether these players are worth investing in.

What are Headliners Cards and How Do They Update?
Similar to Ones to Watch cards, Headliners update dynamically throughout the season, meaning they can receive upgrades if the player performs well during the remainder of the season.
There is one main difference between a Headliner card and a Ones To Watch cards, however, this being that a Headliner card always remains one in-form upgrade ahead of the next highest rated performance-based card (i.e. TOTW, MOTM, Hero, Team of the Group Stage etc, but not including Team of the Season items).
For example, say Raphael Varane receives a Headliner card, he will be released as an 88 rated card, +1 from his highest card currently, his 87 2nd IF. If Varane receives an 88 rated 3rd IF, his headliner will automatically upgrade to an 89 rated version.
Because of the Headliner cards being the highest-rated version, they are highly desirable cards and make for great investments in FUT.
It is worth mentioning, that this information is based off the FIFA 19 Headliners promotion. Being a new year, the way that FUT Headliners update may change slightly once the promotion begins.
Headliners Expected Content
During the Headliners promotion, we can expect a tonne of content in FUT, including:
- Headliners Team
- Headliners Player SBCs
- Pack SBCs
- Repeatable Upgrade SBCs
- Headliners Weekly Objectives
- Packs and Lightning Rounds
Headliners Team
Without a doubt, the biggest aspect of the promotion will be the 23-man squad of Headliners players released into packs.
Based off of FIFA 19, a Headliner player is selected as being a player that has had an exceptional start to the current season.
Furthermore, the player must have received at least one performance-based in-form during the season, must not have an existing dynamic item such as Road to the Final or Ones to Watch, a TOTY card, or a base card that is higher than 90 rated.
Expect massive boosts to these cards when released into packs, and major rises when there is a potential for an In-Form to be released, as these cards will dynamically update throughout the remainder of the season.
Headliner Player SBCs
Expect a few player SBCs to be released during the promotion, including some players that didn’t make it into the original selection released into packs.
Last year we had 2 Headliner player SBCs released, these being Dani Carvajal and Marko Arnautovic.
Pack SBCs
A feature of most promotions, expect there to be some pack SBCs to be dropped, allowing players to obtain some decent packs for cheap.
However, given EA’s tendency to release untradeable packs of late, I’d perhaps expect to see untradeable rewards from these SBCs.
Last year we saw a handful of Headliner Challenge SBCs released, and I’d expect to see something similar again.
Repeatable Upgrade SBCs
Despite not seeing any repeatable upgrade SBCs in FUT19’s Headliner promo, I’d expect to see a few released this year. 81+ Packs would be a likely release, allowing players to continue opening packs from SBCs in an attempt to pack the new Headliner cards.
Weekly Objectives
As with all FUT Promotions, Weekly Objectives should be a feature for Headliners in FUT 20. Expect a Headliner player weekly objective, as well as other things such as kits and other Headliner related rewards.
Packs and Lightning Rounds
Being a FUT Promotion, expect packs to be sold throughout, and a few lightning rounds throughout peak times in FUT, i.e. weekends from 6-8pm UK.
