PSG Fiddle is the Gfinity FIFA 18 US Spring Cup Xbox Champion

The Gfinity FIFA 2018 Spring Cup US Live esports Finals at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort had it’s first day and has found it’s Xbox champion!

The seven Xbox One FIFA 18 players that participated in the US Spring Cup are among the best of the best of North America. Players like Goal Machine 21, who has recently beaten the World Champion Spencer “Gorilla” Ealing, and was a TOP 4 player at FUT Manchester S2, and Alan Avi, one of NA’s top eMLS players currently signed with FC Dallas took part.

In the end, PSG Esports pro player Gordon Thornsberry a.k.a PSG Fiddle was crowned the champ after defeating Goal Machine 21. Both players had already qualified for the FIFA eWorld Cup Playoffs in Amsterdam, so the chance was given to the third place winner to qualify.

Let’s look back at how the action unfolded in the Xbox Tournament...

The First Elimination Matches

PSG Fiddle opened the first day of the tournament in a match against player Alekzandur. After a bad start, Fiddle was able to rally back and take the win.

In the other initial matches, Dylan Jr eliminated Mexican player Rodrigo Ruz and a major upset happened when Alan Avi lost his match against player FoB Tigre, a relatively unknown player who was making his LIVE debut.

The game between Tigre and Avi managed to be competitive until the end, but the aggregate score of 5-4 favoured the Mexican player, who proceeded into the Semi Finals.

The Semi Finals

Goal Machine made his much expected debut and played his first match of the day against Tigre. Unfortunately for Tigre, he was not ready for Goal Machine’s style of game and ended up losing 8-4 after a valiant effort. His story was not quite over yet.

In the second Semi Final match, PSG Fiddle managed to beat Dylan Jr with relative ease and a final score of 8-2, and went to meet Goal Machine in the Xbox Grand Finals of the Tournament.

Dylan Jr was also not quite done yet, as it was revealed that since both Fiddle and Goal Machine were already classified for the Global Playoffs in Amsterdam, the winner of the Third place match was going to win a ticket to the Fifa eWorld Cup.

The Third Place Match

With a spot in the eWorld Cup on the line, Dylan Jr and FoB Tigre began their war. After a competitive match that went 3-3, the game was won by Tigre in extra time. Final score: 6-3 for the Mexican, sealing his ticket to Amsterdam in the process.

Tigre’s achievement is even more amazing as this is his first LIVE event, and he has already qualified for a FIFA eWorld Cup after beating top level competition! The young player will now have his second LIVE event be in a world known competition, and his talents showcased to a global audience.

The Grand Finals

The final clash between PSG Fiddle and Goal Machine was another action packed match.

With both players performing at their best levels, Fiddle managed to take the first leg 2-1, after capitalizing in some of Goal Machine’s mistakes. Goal Machine came forward and more aggressive in the second leg, managing to tie the aggregate score to 2-2, but it was just Fiddle’s night. The PSG pro managed to overcome the pressure made by his foe and regained the lead after scoring a few more goals.

After that, all Fiddle did was keep his composure and managed to keep control of the game. Final score: 5-3. PSG Fiddle already had his ticket to Amsterdam guaranteed, but also got the NA Xbox Spring Cup Championship title and the prize of $7,500.
