Square Enix has announced that they're suspending digital sales for Final Fantasy XIV, alongside its current free trial. Following ongoing server congestion issues and lengthy queue times for the popular MMORPG, that's come to a head following Endwalker's recent release.
While Square Enix previous gave players seven days of free game time, they've now added an extra two weeks as further compensation. As per their official website (thanks The Gamer), game producer and director Naoki Yoshida issued a statement about these current problems.

Square Enix Suspend Final Fantasy XIV's Digital Sales, Provides Subscribers Two Weeks Extra Playtime
Part of Yoshida's statement reads as:
"We are aware that the long waiting times to log into the game are preventing players from playing, and for this, we sincerely apologize. In response to this, we recently granted 7 days of game time, but now we will also be granting an additional 14 days.
This will apply to all players (including those with multiple accounts) who own the full version of the game and have an active subscription as of Tuesday, December 21, at 12:00 a.m. (PST), which is the scheduled release date for Patch 6.01. Further details regarding eligibility will be announced separately."
Endwalker, XIV's latest expansion, released officially last week on December 7th, though anyone who pre-ordered it got early access on December 3rd. However, it's been a tough launch which continues to see servers frequently hitting maximum capacity. Make sure to follow us for more Final Fantasy news and updates as it happens.
