A New Engine
“Beginning with the release of the 11.50 update in early February, Fortnite will be moving to Unreal Engine’s Chaos Physics Engine.”
It's a mystery why Fortnite has waited this long to switch to a new engine - it may have made more sense to do it at the end of Chapter 1.
You can almost certainly expect some issues when the change arrives and will also need to adapt your gameplay for the changes the impact will bring.
The Fortnite team will, however, be “closely monitoring feedback and making improvements over time.”
So what will the new engine bring to the table? It will allow a build to collapse if it gets shot or exploded, rather than just disappearing. A nice aesthetic touch.
When Will The New Engine Release Date?
Epic Games has just shared that it expects Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 to release on the 20th February.
Dare Epic Games delay the new season for the third time?
It's obviously disappointing to hear that the new season is further from reach but in the meantime, they have announced that more Overtime Challenges will be releasing.
