Start Date

No official statement has been made from Epic Games about the Fortnite World Cup 2020.

The first event took place during the summer (26th-28th July 2019). We can expect this year's event to fall within a similar time frame.

Venue And Tickets

The venue is yet to be confirmed for the 2020 Fortnite World Cup.

Last year's event took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center's Arthur Ashe Stadium, in New York City.

They could opt to choose a new location, I think it is safe to say at this early stage of the World Cup's lifespan it will likely be held in the US.

A nice incentive to attend the event was given to those that bought tickets for all three days of the World Cup - player received V-Bucks and a Season 10 Battle Pass.

They also received a swag bag that included exclusive World Cup Final merchandise and attendance to the Fortnite Fan Festival.

Rules & Format

The rules haven't been confirmed yet but expect to find them in this section of their website.

Qualification

Epic Games have changed the way they do qualifications for this season of the FCS, which many consider the testing ground for a lot of the features that make it into the World Cup.

They used to start with an open round then follow it up with a round for players placing in the top 3000.

This time around they have moved to focus on custom matches for top qualifying players in two open rounds which have given players little room for error.

Trios?

Someone posted on Reddit the source code of the Epic Games Fortnite website and highlighted mentions of the Fortnite world cup.

This included the mention of trios which had surprised some commenters wondering why they would add another section to an already massive tournament.
