Earlier last week, Alan Wake 2 was finally released as an Epic Games exclusive, receiving critical acclaim for its intelligent narrative and outstanding character design. In light of its success, the Director of Communications at Remedy Entertainment has been quick to pay tribute to Epic for the role they played in Alan Wake 2's production.
Speaking on X, formerly known as Twitter, Remedy's Thomas Puha credited their partnership with Epic Games as being instrumental in making Alan Wake 2 the best it could be, claiming that the production team "killed it" when it came to supporting the game's development.
In an industry where creative vision can sometimes be stifled by overbearing and intrusive influences, Puha further praised Epic Games for giving Remedy the creative freedom to craft the game they had envisioned from the outset, writing "Shoutout to Epic Publishing, they let us make the game we wanted. Nothing but supportive."
While Epic Games Publishing may have taken a very 'laissez-faire' approach to the game's development, Puha nevertheless emphasised how pivotal the role Epic played in the development of the game. "Never have I read so much good feedback from milestones and have producers play so much of the game constantly" tweeted Puha.
The collaboration between Remedy and Epic Games has undeniably paid off. In our review of Alan Wake 2, we fell in love with the game's "expertly crafted narrative" and "fascinating main characters", with the sequel to the original Alan Wake being well and truly worth the 13-year wait.
As fans continue to immerse themselves in the eerie world of Alan Wake 2, it's clear that the partnership between Epic and Remedy has allowed the developers to fully realize their creative vision and deliver a game that exceeds the expectations of both new players and fans of the original Alan Wake game.
Epic's founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney, has also offered his congratulations to studio Remedy on their success with their "amazing game". The good feelings are evidently mutual between Remedy and Epic, which bodes well for a rumoured joint-release from the two companies in the near future.
