With Diablo 4 having arrived in early access late last week, those who plumped for one of its special editions and haven’t suffered from too many frustrating launch errors have already scythed through a lot of enemies.
The fact that many hardcore fans had chosen to spend time prior to the game’s release reading as many reviews as possible, planning out their builds, and organising a party of friends to accompany them in their adventures has probably helped expedite their monster-slaying progression.
While a fair few of these have hardened hell-raisers had already made it as far as the end-game loop and to the coveted level 100 prior to the game’s full release earlier today, Wudijo’s recently completed run to the top came with some unique caveats that definitely make it worth checking out.
Do you plan on trying to reach level 100 in Diablo 4’s playing solo and on hardcore difficulty at some point?
The streamer and YouTuber, whose previous Diablo exploits include soloing Ashava on veteran difficulty during May’s Diablo 4 Server Slam, decided to spend its early access period tackling the challenge of battling up to level 100 playing solo and on hardcore difficulty.
As they explain in the video above, the extra challenge of reaching the goal without benefitting from playing in a group, which they dubbed “oppressively multiple time more powerful than solo play,” made them unlikely to be the world’s first player to reach level 100 (that honour went to fellow streamer Rob2628), but would provide a fun extra bit of challenge to the run.
Having kicked off their efforts on June 2, Wudijo has provided daily post-stream Twitter updates on their progression following a mammoth first in-game session that saw them hit level 63 in rapid fashion.
They finally achieved their goal during their most recent stream, which wrapped up just before the dawn of the game’s full release day, reacting with what looked to be a mixture of elation and relief that the grind, which took just over 77 hours in total, was finally over.
“The real MVP is Nina [seemingly the streamer’s partner] guys, who kept me alive for [these] four days,” said the streamer, once they’d taken a second to bask in their victory, adding: “It was a very exhausting grind from start to finish.”
Wudijo is seemingly planning on releasing a YouTube video recapping the whole run at some point very soon, so make sure you look out for that if you’re interested in it.
