The saga between Electronic Arts and FIFA continues, as a new report states that EA’s football games will be rebranded to EA Sports Football Club. Industry insider Jeff Grubb (via VGC) claims that a decision was made internally at EA to rename their football games, after previous reports of a falling out.
Grubb said the following about EA Sports Football Club, as the insider advised the name was recently trademarked:
"I saw trademarks for it, I thought that could be just a feature like an online mode, [but] I asked around about it [and] that's it, that's the name."
EA Reportedly Rebranding FIFA Series as EA Sports Football Club
With trademarks for EA Sports FC are out in the open, it seems like a matter of time before we find out more. There aren’t a lot of details beyond the name just yet, so it’s unknown if the change will take place after FIFA 23 or whether that'll outright replace it.
FIFA 22 is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Will this be the end of EA’s relationship with FIFA? Stay tuned.
