Fans already knew that Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail was going to be a huge expansion, but players were still surprised to see a new playable race and another job. These two new additions are sure to make fans happy and will ensure that this acclaimed MMO will be replayed for years to come.
According to Square Enix (via VGC), this new job will be called Pictomancer, which will let players use their magic brush for long-range attacks. Based on the description, it looks like Square Enix is making Capcom’s Okami or PlayStation’s Concrete Genie a playable job in the game.
“Pictomancer is a magical ranged DPS job that works in the medium of mixed aether, wielding a specialized brush to render their imaginings reality,” claims Square Enix.
Joining the Pictomancer is the female Hrothgar, showing that Final Fantasy XIV always has the furry community in mind. The Hrothgar are a lion-like race in this MMO and the fact they’re finally adding a female variant to this is a godsend to many. Considering the popularity of this game’s animal-like races, we expected this to come out earlier.
The Pictomancer isn’t the only new job in Dawntrail, as this expansion is also adding the Viper job class. While the Pictomancer is much more imaginative with using paintings as attacks, the Viper has players using dual-sword attacks, which look awesome.
Overall, it looks like Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail is going to be a huge expansion for players, giving them even more reason to sink hours into the MMO. New races and jobs are a great way to replay this title, while more stories and quests should please veterans who want to see what comes next. As if all of that wasn’t exciting enough, Square Enix is finally bringing this game to Xbox Series consoles, which is about time.
