Following the release of Halo Infinite in 2021, many fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment in the FPS series’ single-player campaign. With the story ending on a huge cliffhanger, Halo Infinite campaign DLC has been a huge ask for fans of the series.

Unfortunately, it looks like 343 Industries may not be making a campaign expansion anytime soon. While the promise of Infinite was a story that would expanded overtime, it looks like a new campaign will instead be part of a complete sequel instead of part of Infinite’s build.

At the 2023 Halo World Championships, the mere utterance of Halo Infinite campaign DLC was treated as a curse word at the event. During the celebrations, a pro player mentioned wanting more campaign content, only to be immediately cut out.

A video from the event’s livestream saw Halo community manager Ske7ch interview a fan holding a replica of the series’ iconic Needler weapon. After playing on the game’s new Season 5 maps, the fan was asked what he thought of the new arena.

“I really like that new map,” the fan told Ske7ch. “I’m really excited for Season 5, I really like the customisation, but I’m still praying for campaign DLC.”

“I’m gonna cut you off right there,” Ske7ch immediately cut in, removing the mic away from the excited fan.

Halo Infinite was originally pitched as a platform for the series’ story for an entire decade. However, it seems that after a huge restructuring at 343 Industries, other plans are now in place. Unfortunately, there’s no news on whether or not a new campaign is in the works, despite recent rumblings.

Nevertheless, Halo Infinite is finally in a good place, live service wise. The game’s upcoming Season 5 update adds new maps, weapons, customisation, modes and even Forge AI, allowing players to make entire custom missions and even earn XP off them. It’s a huge improvement.

Halo Infinite is currently free-to-play on Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. The campaign is also available in Xbox Game Pass, as well as Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC, Xbox and mobile.
