Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix's live-service action title, is due out on September 4 - but you can play it this weekend if you know what you're doing!
While the game offers a full single-player campaign, much of its longevity is built around multiplayer.
However, it can take a while before you're let loose with your friends in tow. Here's how to squad up in the beta.

The game's focus on single-player is to be applauded, and it's worth noting that even when playing alone, it's great fun.
The beta kicks off with the Golden Gate Bridge demo, taken from the game's E3 showing. Here you'll switch between Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Captain America, and face off against Taskmaster in a boss battle.
From there, we jump forward in time and play as the duo of Hulk and Kamala Khan, the game's main protagonist.
Then, it's off to Russia as the Hulk to do a bit more smashing, and Bruce Banner's alter-ego also gets to square off against Abomination.
Thankfully, on your way through the single-player content, you'll unlock the War Table - the game's central hub that allows players to set up matchmaking.
Once you do so, you'll be able to invite friends to your party and each pick your chosen Avenger. In the beta, you can play the game's open-ended War Zone missions as any of the following:
- Iron Man
- Hulk
- Kamala Khan
- Black Widow
Each character plays differently, and with further customisation, you can tailor them to suit your playstyle.
The beta opens up on other platforms in the coming weeks - check out our full guide to how to access it here.
