Modders on PC are constantly changing up the protagonist of games in order to make things a little more surreal and amusing.
No matter whether it’s Sonic or Morbius in Skyrim, Mario and Luigi in Elden Ring or Master Chief in Yakuza Zero, these mods are always fun, and now that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered has made its way onto the cursed platform, it’s become a part of the trend.
First, it was Kermit the Frog grappling his way through the streets of New York and now, it’s the turn of everyone’s favourite Simpson.
An inanimate carbon rod could produce the same mutation as a radioactive spider, right?
The mod that ships the balding fellow in from Springfield is naturally called ‘Homer Simpson’ and is the work of modder Sub2Rhys, whose previous work has brought GTA IV’s Niko Bellic to the game and also forced Spider-Man to advertise for Pepsi.
Now, though, they’ve decided to turn the game into some kind of Simpsons: Hit and Run sequel by giving the patriarch of the cartoon family the heroic powers he’s always deserved, allowing him to swing around town saving folks and eating doughnuts.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to have Bart tag along, as he does in the incredible Simpsons God of War mod, and you’ll have to say goodbye to the game’s advanced suit, as this is what the Homer model replaces, but the mod is still well worth giving a go.
Though, if you consider yourself too much of a hardcore gamer to play as a TV show character, a bunch of other skins inspired by characters from throughout the medium have also been released recently and might be more up your alley.
The first of these is aboy53’s ‘Play as Waluigi’, which replaces that same advanced suit with Wario’s mate from the Mario universe, allowing you to scream ‘Wah!’ into the sunset from the top of a skyscraper.
The second is one for fans of retro Rockstar games, with tiffsomniac’s ‘Jimmy Hopkins’ giving you the chance to reenact scenes from infamous 2006 classic Bully, using webs to pull off some sick pranks.
So, dust off your super suit, get ready for some surreal swinging and make sure to follow us for more updates on the wacky worlds of Fallout and Skyrim modding.
