Hackers are already causing chaos in Modern Warfare 3, much to the annoyance of PlayStation users loading into the latest Call of Duty chapter ahead of launch.
Before the full build of the game releases, players who have preordered the game or redeemed a code can drop into a small slice of Sledgehammer Games' latest project which features a handful of weaponry from the gun list and maps.
Typically, Call of Duty's cheating issues primarily appear on PC thanks to a number of cheat providers giving players the option to purchase cheats in a bid to bolster their mediocre kill-to-death ratio. This time around, the cheaters have made their way onto PlayStation during the opening Modern Warfare 3 beta weekend.
During a recent match, X user Duqysss encountered a cheater armed with inhuman levels of accuracy and the ability to track targets through walls.
The discovery of hackers in Modern Warfare 3 is certainly disappointing. Throughout the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone cycle, the franchise's Ricochet anti-cheat has attempted to keep hackers away from matches. Still, many have continued to slip through the net and cause widespread disruption in casual and competitive matchmaking.
As expected, there are plenty of frustrated players who weren't expecting to encounter hackers during a match. One player says: "Cheating in a beta? That's a new breed right there." Another adds: "This is the first time I've ever seen someone hack on PS5. How is that even possible?"
According to CharlieINTEL, those cheating on PlayStation can only do so if they've managed to get their hands on a PS4 dev kit. Is buying a dev kit worth it to top the scoreboards? Probably not.
On the plus side, uncovering the ability to use hacks during a beta is great for Sledgehammer Games and Activision, who can now develop preventative measures in a bid to stop the cheaters from ruining Modern Warfare 3 when it releases on November 10.
Hopefully, Activision will swing the ban hammer in its latest battle against cheaters.
