Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out and most fans agree that it has the worst campaign in this franchise thus far. While fans have a number of legitimate complaints to make, most of them are blaming the franchise’s focus on Warzone for the poor single-player mode.
On Reddit, a post from D_ultimateplayer ranted about how most of the campaign feels like devs just reused areas from Warzone. As the poster points out, the campaign is mostly set in Verdansk, which is why it felt like a single-player tutorial of Warzone.
Even if previous CoD campaigns were short, they would at least take players to different locales and offer fun set pieces to shoot through. What makes all of this worse is that a fan-favorite character dies in this campaign, which many felt was a cheap way to tug at the audience’s heartstrings.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of fans aren’t defending the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, with many saying that it’s much worse than the one in Modern Warfare 2. That single-player mode also had its fair share of issues, but it seems to be a meaty first-person shooter when compared to a glorified tutorial.
It doesn’t help that the whole package takes over 200 GB of space, so players who want to try this out will have to delete a ton of games. Considering just how short this campaign is, the 200 GB makes this package pretty insulting, especially to hardcore Modern Warfare fans.
Granted, some would argue that multiplayer has always been the main focus of Call of Duty, and they have a point. However, it’s never been more blatant than with this entry, as the short campaign length and reused maps have angered the whole fanbase. We don’t know if Modern Warfare 4 is in the works, but Activision Blizzard will need to make some serious amends for this.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be available to most of the populace on November 8. Those who pre-ordered the game were able to play the campaign early, which is how the negative fan reactions came about.
