It's been a long time coming but Capcom has officially revealed Monster Hunter Wilds at The Game Awards, the follow-up to their most successful title ever, Monster Hunter World.
While we had Monster Hunter Rise in 2021, it was a smaller experience originally intended to cater to Nintendo Switch users, even if it was ported to PC afterwards. With Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom will look to once again deliver an epic experience for fans of the franchise, as shown by their very ambitious trailer.
The Monster Hunter franchise is renowned for its diverse biomes. In the first Wilds trailer, we can see a hunter being pursued by a herd of massive creatures in an arid location.
We then transition to an impressive setpiece featuring another large unnamed beast as the hunter and their flying mount duke it out in the middle of an electric storm. It's quite a sight to behold.
Sadly, the game won't be coming out any time soon as it's scheduled to release at some point in 2025, which is already looking like a stacked year considering another industry giant, GTA 6, is also due for release in that same year.
Monster Hunter became one of Capcom's pillars over the past years and could almost single-handedly be called the IP that saved the company with Monster Hunter World. The game has sold over 23 million copies according to the latest sales numbers by the developer.
Monster Hunter Rise, the Switch timed-exclusive follow-up racked up 13 million copies sold, enough to put it as Capcom's second best-selling game of all time.
During The Game Awards, the developers confirmed they'll go radio silent for a few months, and gave fans a date when they can expect new information.
We plan on revealing more information about this game in the Summer of 2024, so we hope you keep your eyes peeled. We couldn’t have done this without you; the best is yet to come.”
Expectations are high for Monster Hunter Wilds to say the least. As always, when there's more information to share, we'll keep you updated with everything you need to know.
