Nintendo fans hoped to see news about the Switch 2 today, but that hasn’t happened. Despite the evidence that the console exists, the only announcement we’ve seen from Nintendo is NSO icons based on Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. Various insiders have now said the console will be stealth-dropped, much like previous Switch games.
Well-known insider Nate the Hate said on X that Nintendo’s new hardware will probably get shadow-dropped instead of coming with tons of hype. Some fans claim Nate is back-pedaling since the company has seemingly delayed the console’s announcement. It will be interesting to see what Nintendo eventually does, but gamers will have to keep waiting.
Fans should always take insiders' predictions with a grain of salt, especially regarding the Switch 2. However, it is worth noting that Nate has correctly predicted several announcements in the past. Even with all that, only time will tell if the new console will be announced this week or in a few months.
There are plenty of regular Switch games to get excited about, like the re-release of Xenoblade Chronicles X, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. Although the system has plenty more titles to look forward to, fans are desperate for a new hardware upgrade.
However, the new system can't come soon enough, as more Switch games are experiencing performance issues and graphical setbacks.
Everything surrounding the Switch 2 excites fans, from the leaked accessories to the promise of quality ports. With the new system, games that previously received cloud gaming ports, like the Kingdom Hearts compilations, could receive full native ports. However, until this supposed stealth release happens, fans will have to wait a bit longer for the new system to arrive.
