Atlus fans everywhere are excited to get their hands on Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio, though most are disappointed that they aren’t on Nintendo Switch. It looks like Atlus may have done that on purpose, with rumours claiming that both games are planned for the Switch 2.
Prominent Atlus leaker @MbKKssTBhz5 has claimed that both the Persona 3 remake and Metaphor will be coming to the Switch successor. While fans should always take leaks with a grain of salt, this leaker has gotten a couple of stories right before, so there’s a small chance that this could be happening.
Many fans were expecting Persona 3 Reload to hit the current Switch model, as the system is already home to games like Persona 5 Royal. At the least, many expected a delayed release before it came out a few months later and that could still happen. Metaphor is a bit more advanced graphically, so that’s expected to be a Switch 2 game, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Reload joins it as a double launch.
In an interview with Atomix, Atlus did say that they purposefully avoided the Switch for Persona 3 Reload’s release, though the idea is still there. Based on their comments, it seems that Atlus is waiting for heavy demand, even though fans already want these games on Switch. The company has seemingly forgotten how much fans asked them to port Persona 5 Royal to Switch.
Despite the demand, it might be smart of Atlus to wait for Switch 2 before releasing Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor on a Nintendo system. Rumours claim that the new system is going to be revealed this year and might even come out in 2024, though nothing has been confirmed. With the world going crazy over the Switch, they might go even crazier for Switch 2 if it has Atlus games as launch titles.
