Pokémon TV will soon be gone from every app store it was available on, after providing fans with hours of entertainment for many years. It’s not too surprising, given the amount of new Pokémon media available through Netflix and YouTube, but this is still the end of an era.
Serebii confirmed that the TV app will be permanently closing on March 28 of this year, giving existing fans less than two months to enjoy it. Those who were unable to download the app before won’t be able to do so anymore. Anyone who still has the app can watch episodes until, well, March 28 of this year.
No reasons were given as to why Pokémon TV would be removed from app stores, especially since it was the only way to watch older episodes of the show at one point. Things have gotten a bit better in recent years, as a YouTube channel now has the old episodes of the show, but this is still quite the shocker.
As we mentioned earlier, new media like Pokémon Horizons and Pokémon Concierge are now easily accessible through Netflix. Even if not everyone has the app, it’s clear that owning this and Pokémon TV was making the latter obsolete, hence, it no longer being available.
While it’s a shame, this was bound to happen and there’s always a chance that The Pokémon Company will also announce its replacement. Only time will tell if that’s the case but considering how much easier it is to just have Netflix on your computer or phone, no one needs that app anymore.

Considering the release cycle of this franchise, we wouldn’t be surprised if a new Pokémon TV equivalent is released alongside whatever new games come after Scarlet and Violet. Hopefully, this new release cycle will also give the developers more time to work on a better-running game in the future.
