Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by overhauling iconic quests, revamping menus, and adding interesting player homes to it, with a few even going as far as making every door a mysterious portal to a random location.
However, if you’re still psyched up from Skyblivion’s new trailer and fancy taking a trip to Cyrodiil prior to 2025, a new mod, which gives the legions of an existing massive modding project some fresh outfits, might be worth adding to your load order before you cross the border.
Fancy seeing some new-look legions next time you visit Cyrodiil?
The mod in question is called ‘Beyond Skyrim - Bruma - Imperial armors replacer SE’, and is the work of modder Xtudo. Some of their previous work has provided patches for some of Skyrim’s most popular shield mods and fixed Dawnstar’s fences.
This time, they’ve taken on the role of Imperial quartermaster to the troops inhabiting the area added to Skyrim’s map by ‘Beyond Skyrim - Bruma SE’, replacing the vanilla armour worn by these defenders of Cyrodiil with some killer armours from fellow modder NordwarUA’s ‘New Legion’.
This means that when your Dragonborn decides to head south to experience some of that sweet Oblivion nostalgia, they won’t be met with a bunch of troops who don’t look all that impressive and just remind you of plain old Skyrim.
The mod will also give themes some fresh weaponry, which you might want to remember if you’re heading to Bruma in order to get up to some dodgy hijinks or escape a massive bounty accrued by getting caught stealing from the entire population of Whiterun.
Xtudo has also hidden two of the more retro armours added to the game by NordwarUA’s mod, both of which resemble the getup of Oblivion’s guards, for you to find while exploring, adding an extra element to the old-school Elder Scrolls vibes.
