Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.
A lot of these efforts have focused on making the game’s combat a lot more interesting and in-depth, with new weapons, spells and animations helping to spice things up and new enemies providing some fresh challenges for even the most hardened of warriors.
If you’re someone constantly looking for fresh foes to pit your Dragonborn against and also happen to be a fan of HBO’s Game of Thrones, a new mod might be right up your alley.
Think your next Skyrim playthrough needs a bit more of that irresistible Westeros flavour?
The mod in question is called ‘HotD and GoT Dragons Standalone’, and is the work of modder KaienHash.
They’ve decided to build on and improve the sole previous work, a mod called ‘GoT Dragons (A Game of Thrones)’, by creating a new version which features a few more dragons from the recently released House of the Dragon series and doesn’t replace any of the vanilla game’s dragons with these new additions.
So, if you just want a bit more variety in terms of named flying lizards, but don’t want to have to replace iconic allies like Paarthurnax or make encounters with elder, frost, and blood dragons a thing of the past, you’re in luck.
With the mod installed, you’ll start to see familiar scaly saboteurs like Drogon, Viserion and Dreamfyre pop up in random places around the province, hopefully making dragon battles a little less boring once you get into the latter stages of a playthrough and have usually seen some of the game’s more generic dragons hundreds of times.
If you’re interested in adding even more of a Game of Thrones-esque atmosphere to your Skyrim experience, you might want to check out the wider modding project that KaienHash’s is part of, which is called Skyros and has some pretty lofty goals, as you can see in the video below.
