Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding interesting quests, unique characters and powerful perks to it, with a few even going as far as giving your Dragonborn the chance to receive their letters from a friendly goat courier or try not to be driven mad by a cursed sword.
If you’re someone who’s just about to kick off a fresh mage playthrough that may or may not feature some Starfield-style laser blasters and are looking for somewhere far from the province’s bustling cities to chill out while your magicka recharges, a new mod might be worth checking out.
In need of somewhere to chill out and stargaze during a pre-Starfield Skyrim playthrough?
The mod in question is called ‘Mirele Bismath Reborn’, and is seemingly the first ever work of modder Marshmalo.
They’ve decided to kick off their modding career with a bang, by getting the permission of fellow modder SoftRodvt to create a redesigned version of ‘Mirele Bismath - The Comfy and Compact Wizard Tower’, which has proven very popular among witches and warlock looking for real estate since its release in 2018.
Much like its predecessor, Marshmalo’s version of the home can be found on Lake Ililinalta, just to the south of Riverwood, and comes with an extensive backstory connecting it to Skyrim’s history, but it also features an extensively overhauled interior and exterior, both of which you can get a good look at in the showcase video below.
While the changes made to the building’s already unique facade are certainly striking, leaning heavily into an aesthetic that combines cottagecore vibes with architecture reminiscent of Oblivion and the Lord of the Rings, the interior has undergone the most dramatic transformation.
Replacing the original’s simplistic and slightly dingy quarters are spaces that are a bit more roomy and packed with visual flair, as well as boasting a number of additional areas, including extra bedrooms, a herb garden and a basement that’s been transformed into an “arcane vault” to house all of your dusty spell tomes and grimoires.
So, if your magister is looking for somewhere to move into now that they’ve established themselves at the College of Winterhold, they might want to head back to the area they roamed just after breaking out of Helgen.
Regardless of whether you’re now trying to work out how to avoid bandit camps while transporting your possessions across Skyrim using telekinesis, make sure to follow us for updates on Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6, and the interesting world of Bethesda game modding, including our top mods of the month.
