Most of the hardcore Bethesda fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 couldn’t wait for the chance to blast off into Starfield.
No matter whether you paid for early access or jumped into the game on September 6, odds are if you’ve avoided spending all day downloading mods, you’ve likely already blazed through a lot of missions and moulded your character into a hardened spacer.
You might also have been getting up to all kinds of wacky hijinks as you explore the cosmos, such as adopting a pet asteroid, building a sandwich-shaped ship, or in the case of one player, re-creating one of Oblivion’s most iconic YouTube clips.
Have you had a go at chucking the Adoring Fan off a cliff in Starfield?
The player in question, who goes by Dennios on YouTube, has already gotten up to plenty of zany shenanigans in the game, including managing to swim through a milky way made of literal milk cartons floating in space.
Now, however, they’ve taken it upon themselves to fulfil what Bethesda hinted at in June’s Starfield Direct and make an interstellar version of ‘The Adoring Fan at Dive Rock,’ a classic Oblivion clip that, as you might have gleaned from the title, sees everyone’s favourite admiration-filled follower take a bit of a fall.
While the original video was posted back in April 2006, something you can definitely tell from the quality, its creator, Zarf, put together an updated version to celebrate its tenth birthday, giving us the perfect point of comparison for Dennios’ efforts.
As you can see above, the means of sending the fan on his slide down the mountainside is the main difference between the two, with Dennios having used the anti-gravity field Starborn power in place of Zarf’s trusty bow.
Wonderfully, the result is much the same, with the poor fan dramatically flying backwards at first, before hilariously slipping down the incline in ragdoll form and eventually coming to a halt once the ground begins to level out.
Regardless of whether you’ve been gently pushing a character that just wants to be your friend off every precipice the cosmos has to offer, make sure to check out our guides to Starfield’s characters, mechanics, and quests, as well as updates on DLC whenever they arrive.
