For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield, which is set for September 6, can’t come soon enough.
While many of these would-be spacers have spent the past few months speculating about everything the game could contain and even its potential for interesting mods and DLCs further down the line, Sunday’s massive Starfield Direct provided plenty of fresh answers regarding exactly what it’ll offer.
Though some of the biggest talking points coming out of this show concerned the game’s 30 FPS cap on consoles and some potential peeks at its version of Earth, fans are now going back through its gameplay deep-dive looking for subtle things everyone might have missed, with one having decided to focus in on the economic value of sandwiches.
Are you planning on amassing a massive collection of sandwiches in Starfield?
Reddit user SpenserB91 is the prospective player conducting this important research, which has seen them calculate that in order to earn an amount of credits equal to the value of the version of the player’s ‘home ship’, The Frontier, that’s shown around 21 minutes and 15 seconds into the broadcast, one would need to part with around 98 sandwiches.
As you can see above, the craft in question is worth just over 7.3k credits, which is pretty much the amount that offloading all of those snacks would net you, assuming that they can be sold for the value of 75 credits that’s also shown, though you might have to throw in a 99th sandwich, since the calculation works out at 98.3 recurring savoury snacks.
This discovery has triggered some concern in the thread about it regarding the balance of the game’s economy, with user Dave10293847 declaring: “Oh, I’m just waiting for a ton of iron in [my] cargo hold to [be worth four] credits while [a] mystery meat salami [sandwich is worth] 115 credits. I’m ready.”
However, it’s important to remember that the actual in-game sale and purchase values of both items may well be different to those shown in the deep-dive.
Plus, it’s not like you’ll be able to accrue the values of some of the more advanced ships shown later on in the broadcast - a couple of which are worth close to 40 and 50k credits - using the sandwich method, unless you’re prepared to become a very serious hoarder.
