Most of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 couldn’t wait for the chance to start digging into Starfield.
Some chose to pass the time until it arrived by getting ready to make some mods for the game, getting caught up in the discourses surrounding leaked aspects of it, or, more recently, reading through the message Todd Howard posted on the game’s subreddit.
With those who paid for early access to the game now having had the doors to the ship that’ll take them to space unlock, a bunch of streamers have already delved into the cosmos and begun getting up to all kinds of shenanigans.
Have you already kicked off your adventures in Starfield?
Starfield’s top clips page on Twitch is already full of short videos showing off some of the most interesting things these creators have seen and done during their brief time with the game so far.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, given the reputation Bethesda games have developed for harbouring amusing little issues that can be interpreted more as quirks than actual problems, a number of the most popular clips look to involve hilarious and bizarre potential bugs.
For example, in what’s been dubbed “Best Starfield clip of the Year”, streamer Jabo somehow ends up somehow being thrown through the rear hatch of a ship as it takes off, thankfully leading to their character gently floating back down to the surface of a planet, rather than landing with a painful splat.
In another clip, streamer Auronplay encountered some very weird behaviour from companion and Constellation head honcho Sarah Morgan, who’d managed to get stuck in mid-air with her weapon drawn and begun to jiggle around. Even more strangely, Auronplay could still initiate conversation with the Constellation leader as normal while she was in this state.
Judging by this and a clip from streamer DansGaming that sees them confronted by an airborne VASCO, floating companions seem to be a bit of a thing in the game.
On the other hand, streamer AnnieFuchsia thought they’d encountered a bug while creating their character, only to realise that it was actually a background option that was supposed to be called “(File not found).”This was in reference to there being no information available on the character’s past life, allowing you to start a playthrough with more of a blank slate to build from.
Meanwhile, in an interaction that’s definitely supposed to happen, streamer Magnetic likely became one of the first players to be told off by an NPC for stealing sandwiches.
