If you have been following the recent news about gaming awards for the year 2024, you'll know that The Game Awards and Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree are the talk of the town.

The topic has divided both the gaming and Elden Ring communities that it could be a nominee for a fictitious Most Controversial Game of The Year award, along with Unknown 9: Awakening's sudden launch.

However, the recent 2024 Golden Joystick Awards has shown the right way to award a DLC similar to the Shadow of the Erdtree now that the awarding ceremony has concluded and announced their winners.

Among the awards such as the Best Gaming Hardware for the Steam Deck OLED, the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards has recognized the fine work Team Asobi did for Astro Bot, as well as many other notable awardees. Here's the complete list of winners of the 2024 Golden Joystick Award.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Helldivers 2 took the most awards considering how these titles made 2024 a great year for video games.

Interestingly, the Golden Joystick Awards had a perfect category called Best Game Expansion in which Elden Ring's amazing Shadow of the Erdtree became the victor.

While The Game Awards have been celebrating gaming for the past 10 years, recognizing gaming expansions is one thing, but adjusting guidelines and categories to make them fit into a different category such as Game Of The Year is another.

Gamers all over the world will see how the awarding goes once The Game Awards announces its winners on December 12, 2024.
