It looks like EA is planning to re-release The Sims and The Sims 2 this year and it’s coming sooner than we think. While the company hasn’t officially confirmed these games, various leaks have seemingly revealed their existence. Considering how nostalgic everyone has been for older games, this could hit the sweet spot for many.
Gaming Insider anadius claims that we’re going to see these games get re-released by the end of this month on January 31. There will supposedly be a special 25th Birthday Bundle for the two games, bringing in older expansions. Considering how fans are still waiting for the official fifth game in this series, this could tide them over.
With The Sims supposedly getting a movie soon, this would be an interesting way to revive interest in the gaming IP. At the time of writing, most fans play the fourth game since it still gets updates and expansion packs. Most fans still complain that it’s not as feature-rich when compared to the older entries, which is probably what these two older games are getting entries.
Fans are more interested in seeing how these re-releases are handled. It’s not yet known if these are going to be remasters with better graphics or straight forward re-releases with the same visuals. What fans really want to know is if these games are going to have controller support or if they’re still stuck on mouse and keyboard.
This re-release of The Sims has us wondering if more of these games will be getting another shot. Older console-only versions of the series exist, like The Urbz and special versions of The Sims 2 where you have direct control of these characters.
For more gaming news, players can read about World of Warcraft getting an Xbox release soon. Players can also read about the Sonic actor owning an Anbernic handheld, which is pretty rad.
