Todd Howard, the director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, has been evasive regarding the updates of the upcoming games, Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6.
In a recent interview when asked about the release date for the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6 or the potential new Fallout 5, he basically said that he'd prefer not to answer that as long as possible.
“I'm going to avoid putting dates on anything. I've learned that the hard way." said Todd in a recent interview with IGN.
He further clarified "So obviously, our focus as far as new development right now is Elder Scrolls VI, but that doesn't mean that we're not making plans for other things." in the interview with IGN.
We've had other instances where Todd Howard regretted making the reveal of Elder Scrolls 6 a big deal, and instead he's focusing on keeping the momentum for the rest of Bethesda's games going.
"It really does, and I mean, this has one of the best communities in all of gaming. Surprisingly, it's a very, very nice apocalypse, and we're doing a lot of Starfield work as well. So, we have some really good updates that are going to get announced soon for that game. So, a lot going on here,” he added.
Elder Scrolls 6 will most probably be released before Fallout 5. It will be the latest entry in the Elder Scrolls franchise and the successor to the legendary Skyrim. Todd Howard has made no comments on its release date, keeping the fans on their toes, but its release cannot be expected until at least 2026.
On the other hand, another project from Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout, a post-apocalypse video game series, has gained a huge fan base due to its immersive gameplay. Fallout 5 is next in line after Fallout 76, which was released in 2018. The recent success of the Fallout TV series has fans craving for more.
About this, Howard said in an IGN podcast in 2021, “We have a one-pager on Fallout 5, what we want to do." Unfortunately for fans, the exact date of its release has not been announced yet, but it’s still years away.
Although there was no mention of Fallout 5, he did mention the upcoming Fallout 76 update. With Bethesda's current focus on Elder Scrolls 6, one can only expect any work on Fallout 5 after the release of Elder Scrolls 6.
