Since Tears of the Kingdom arrived, Legend of Zelda fans have gotten up to a bunch of interesting hijinks in Hyrule.
From setting off on quests to find and detach every single Fuse part its world has to offer, to creating machines that can mimic the behaviours of animals, and even setting up racing leagues to test out their best vehicle builds, players are having a lot of fun.
Meanwhile, streamers and speedrunners have already beaten the game in a variety of different ways, with the latest challenge being taken on by one Twitch personality seeing them aim to blow away Ganondorf’s forces using a musical instrument.
Think you could beat Tears of the Kingdom using an iconic Zelda instrument?
The run in question is a long-awaited sequel of sorts, with streamer gv_mimi having wowed everyone earlier this year by managing to beat Breath of the Wild with an ocarina controller.
Now, they’re back and armed with the same implement, which allows them to control Link’s movements and actions by playing a range of different notes, in what looks like it serves as a very thorough workout of their lungs. Then again, given that they’ve recently beaten climbing game Only Up using a recorder, Gv_mimi has shown they definitely don’t lack puffing power.
They kicked off the first stream of the run by explaining that while it won’t be as rapid as a speedrun, they do plan to maintain a pretty quick pace, setting themselves the goal of reaching the end of the Great Sky Island by the conclusion of their opening session.
After starting off by melodically carving their way through the intro, which they admitted still gives them goosebumps every time they play it, they started timing the run and soon seemed to be back in their Breath of the Wild groove.
Impressively, following some teething troubles, Gv_mimi even managed to get the hang of manipulating objects using Fuse, allowing them to solve the puzzles required to progress through areas like shrines.
The streamer ended up calling it a day at around the six hour mark without quite reaching their goal, setting their sights on finishing the section in the next stream and saying based on the experience: “I can only imagine [how long] other sections are gonna take us here.”
They closed by adding: “This is daunting, but I think we can make it.”
