What Is Arcade Mode?
The Arcade Mode within Gears 5 is aiming to make the multiplayer more accesssible to players who tend to avoid it. The mode borrows from hero shooters by giving characters passive skills, unique loadouts and upgrade paths. This is a great idea as the hardcore nature of Gears 5 multiplayer will revolve heavily around Gnasher shotgun action for large portions of the match as well as power weapon control. It also means that those lacking the experience can practice their mechanics in a less stressful environment.
Arcade mode, despite having a different objective to multiplayer, doesn't actually differ too heavily to the traditional PvP. Sliding speed and distance have been altered as well as some behaviour to the spawns.
One unique feature in Arcade Mode is the fact that you will be rewarded with skulls as your rack up kills and assists - this acts as currency to buy power weapons (different weapons cost different amounts). Skulls will persists between lives, however power weapons are lost when dropped or killed.
