What's New About Gears 5's Horde Mode
Perhaps the biggest chance is the fact that all playable characters now have ultimates/special abilities - this operates similar to Call of Duty Black Ops 4's specialists.
JD Fenix can call in an airstrike, while Kait can use a cloaking ability and Fahz has an X-Ray that allows him to see through walls. This new addition will greatly change the dynamic of Horde mode and how your team plays around them.
Another major change to the multiplayer gameplay is the introduction of "power taps". Gears 5's horde mode is more aggressive than it has been in the past and you will need these "power taps" to expand your base and uprade your arsenal to be able to survive the 50 waves available - not just camp in one spot.
Characters
There are new characters available, most recently announced was the Halo: Reach pack, which can be received by ordering the Ultimate Edition. From Halo: Reach’s Noble Team, Spartans Emile-A239 and Kat-B320 will fight alongside our heroes.
Marcus Fenix will also make an appearance as well as the Cog's trusted sidekick Jack, who has the ability to hijack enemies and use them at its discretion, alongside more characters to be revealed later on.
