The Destiny 2 Alone in the Dark quest gives you the task of finding a lost Ghost. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. With multiple rewards available, knowing how to complete Alone in the Dark in Destiny 2 is essential to see everything the MMO’s new expansion has to offer.
Like Destined Heroes and Wild Card, you must have already completed the Destiny 2 The Final Shape missions list before you can begin Alone in the Dark. While it doesn't have Exotic rewards like those quests, offering Ergo Sum and Still Hunt respectively, it's still worth completing.
Destiny 2 Alone in the Dark Quest Steps
To complete the Destiny 2 Alone in the Dark quest, follow these steps:
- Talk to Micah and acquire the coordinates of an Injured Ghost.
- Find the lost Ghost within the search area.
- Open Overthrow chests near the location where you found the Ghost to begin healing the infection.
- Commune with the bird of Light to complete a cyst activity.
- Follow the vision of Light into the depths of the Pale Heart and fight the infection found there.
- Return to the Lost City's Arbor of Light.
Follow the Vision
The trickiest part of the Alone in the Dark quest is step five, which tasks you with following a vision of Light. If you're stuck on this quest, it's likely this step - especially as a bug seems to be causing issues for many players right now. To do this quest step, you must:
- Head to The Seclusion in The Pale Heart and go to The Crow atop the withered tree.
- After clearing out the enemies, follow the path downward to Crow and follow the creature.
- Interact with the glowing plants on the floor and follow the new waypoint to Zavala’s House.
- Continue along the path until you find a chain-locked door.
- Shoot the symbols on the Cave Wall that correspond to the locked chains in order.
- Stay in the shadows and fight through the cave.
- Eliminate the Revenant Wizards on the left and right side to activate the crystals and shoot all three crystals to bring down the boss’ shields for 15 seconds. Repeat until the boss is defeated.
- A waypoint should appear pointing to the injured Ghost to progress and complete this quest step.
Destiny 2 Alone in the Dark Rewards
While still useful, the rewards found in the Alone in the Dark quest aren’t quite as show-stopping as other post-campaign quests, which generally offer Exotics.
The Alone in the Dark quest rewards are as follows:
- Small Boost to Ghost Reputation
- Bold Endings (Hand Cannon) or;
- Axial Lacuna (Fusion Rifle) or;
- False Idols (Sword)
With that said, this quest is important to find the codes used to eventually unlock the Khvostov Exotic auto rifle. Now that Alone in the Dark is out of the way, explore the Pale Heart to make the best Destiny 2 Prismatic Warlock build, Prismatic Hunter build, or Prismatic Titan build, no matter which class you are.
