As is the case with any expansion for Destiny, grind-minded Guardians are eager to know how much mileage they’ll get out of the latest content drop. With The Final Shape wrapping up the decade-long Light and Darkness saga, it’s more important than ever. So, here is the Destiny 2 The Final Shape length so you have an idea of how long it takes to beat this monumental expansion.

Keep in mind that the length will vary depending not just on your experience, but also on what difficulty you’re playing on. Legendary difficulty returns, challenging you to complete the Destiny 2 The Final Shape missions on a much harder difficulty that, naturally, takes longer to complete. However, if you’ve got the best guns and a handful of the new Destiny 2 The Final Shape Exotics, you can make this an easier affair.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Length

Destiny 2 The Final Shape features eight main missions in its campaign, which will take you around seven hours to complete on Normal difficulty, and closer to ten hours on Legendary difficulty. This is similar in length to previous expansions, including The Witch Queen and Lightfall.

It is important to note that the final, eight mission is only unlocked once the Raid World First race has concluded. At launch, this artificially lengthens the campaign length, as The Final Shape raid releases on Friday, June 7, 2024.

Likewise, completionists will get much more out of the experience. After you beat the main campaign missions, there are heaps of post-campaign quests to complete that expand on the story and unlock new gear. For example, there's Wild Card to unlock Still Hunt, and Destined Heroes to unlock Ergo Sum, both of which are lengthy quests.

There are also collectables and secrets to uncover, as well as the new Destiny 2 Overthrow activity in the Pale Heart. This will easily add another 20 hours to your playtime. Furthermore, true die-hard Guardians will want to collect all the new gear, including the Exotic class items and Euphony, and complete the raid, which to master truly will take you many, many hours more.

That's all before even considering messing around with the new Prismatic subclass. Those looking to get the most out of The Final Shape will want to make the best Destiny 2 Prismatic Titan builds, Prismatic Hunter builds, and Prismatic Warlock builds to take on the hardest content.

While it’s not directly tied into The Final Shape expansion, the first Episode - Echoes - is also available from Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Episode 1: Echoes replaces the previous seasonal model for Destiny 2 but still introduces new gear to collect and more missions to complete for those who have the Season Pass.

So there you have it, a comprehensive overview of the Destiny 2 The Final Shape length and how long you can expect to spend with the epic finale to the Light and Darkness saga. Still looking for things to do? Crack on with the new Destiny 2 Pathfinder system to unlock bonus rewards each week.
