How To Reforge

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, choosing your weapon is the beginning of what's to come.

You'll want to explore the reforging system to level up your gear and rule the battlefield.

This feature allows you to upgrade your weapons, tweak their traits, and make them more effective.

This guide covers everything about reforging, from unlocking the system to strategies for crafting your ultimate weapon.

How To Reforge

You can only use reforging after finishing the main campaign.

Once you wrap up the story, you can load your postgame save and return to the World Map. From now on, you can reforge weapons in any city.

To reforge a weapon, you just need the weapon you want to upgrade and a second one like it for materials.

Make sure both weapons are the same type and name. The level of the secondary weapon being sacrificed doesn't matter if the base weapon name is the same.

For example, you could reforge a Sky Splitter +2 with a basic Sky Splitter, but you can't switch it out for a different weapon.

After you pick your weapons, you have two ways to reforge them: Reforge Power and Reforge Traits.

Each one does something different, and knowing the differences helps you make the most of the system.

Reforge Power

The weapon's attack power increases through reforging by using the secondary weapon’s level as an infusion.

The attack boosts depend on the upgrade level of the weapon you toss in.

For example, if your main weapon is a Cobalt Storm EX +39 and you add a Cobalt Storm EX +15, your weapon’s power will increase by +16.

This is probably one of the easiest ways to make your weapon stronger.

However, it's not the best option early on, as you’ll need a lot of duplicates to make any real progress.

In addition, the weapon's power maxes out at +99, so reforging past that is pointless for more damage.

This process can become expensive, especially if you're working with higher-level weapons, so use it judiciously.

Reforge Traits

This is where you can get more specific with your customization.

Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins have random traits, basically perks that give you boosts like extra damage on officers, easier parries, or faster charge times for certain attacks.

Reforging traits lets you swap a trait from your material weapon to replace one on your main weapon.

It's a more selective process than boosting power, as you can focus on traits that fit your play style.

For instance, if a main weapon boosts damage to officers but has a downside (like taking longer to charge), you could trade it for one that improves things like parry input timing instead.

Even so, there are some catches. If there aren't many trait slots on your weapon, you can’t add extra ones.

Weapons with more slots get better the longer you use them, as you can fill them with useful traits.

When you move a trait from the secondary weapon to the main one, the secondary gets destroyed, and any other traits it has are lost.

Make sure to pick which traits you’re willing to lose.

You’ll want to keep a steady stock of duplicate weapons to get the most out of your reforging.

You can get duplicates most easily by replaying battles and taking down officers since they frequently drop weapons.

You can also buy weapons at shops, but they can be expensive, especially since you'll use them for reforging materials instead.

Therefore, farming battles for gear tend to be the most effective approach.

Whenever you're ready to reforge a weapon, swing by any city with a weapon shop on the World Map.

Instead of selecting the Sell option, choose the Reforge option.

After picking your options, confirm the reforge action and spend the required amount of in-game gold.

Just keep in mind that reforging costs can differ depending on the weapon's rarity and its traits.

It’s gonna eat up the material weapon, so choose the traits or upgrades you want to transfer wisely.

It can cost a lot to reforge, but it pays off big time. With the right plan, you’ll craft the weapon that will shape the Three Kingdoms.
